So let me tell you a little about me! I have a love for many things: fashion, education, and design. I have spent my life doing it all including raising 4 children and being a wife, teacher, business owner, and creative.

I have never met a project I did not love and I am obsessed with color, presentation, and theme. I want to work at something, I want to find the perfect fit to every color, image, and typeface. I dream of branding and theme..

I like to say that "I came in through the side door" I did not spend my life doing this, but rather preparing for it through volunteering, owning a business, and learning... well figuring things out on my own.

I think one of the hardest lessons I have learned in life is that you can't get anywhere if you don't show up.....

I can't tell you how many times I  missed out on things because I was too worried about this or that.....

I can't tell you how many times I made an excuse as to why I did not try something new...

I did not start Carnation Collective for a while for fear of what others might say.....

Well you can't do anything unless you show up!

"My lifelong experience in retail, education, and owning an online business was just the beginning of me putting my craving for the digital world into use....  "

"the experience I have in education is what sets me apart when it comes to knowing what will resonate with people...."

I am Virginia,

So the truth is.... I am not a big flower person!  No green thumb here!  And, although I appreciate nature and all it has to offer, I am not the person you will find at the nursery buying flowers.....

So as an educator, as well as a creative, I have run across a lot of literature and one book in particular stands out.  It is called Mrs. Bixby's Last Days.  It is worth a read!  But, what stood out the most to me is  how she finds the beauty and heroism in the flower most of us overlook- the carnation.

She talks about how roses are quitters but carnations fight harder.... they last longer.... they show up.

This speaks to me, and that's what we all need is someone who will show up consistenly.....

 why carnations?

So this was the beginning of Carnation Collective!
I believe by being present and showing up you are already successful.
